The problem

No. Only your team sees team notes. They stay inside replient.ai and are never posted to Instagram, Facebook or any other platform.
By default, yes, and for mentions too. You can switch both off under Settings → Notifications; the bell in the app still shows them. Assigning something to yourself never notifies anyone.

Yes. On plans with the DM inbox (Pro, Business and Enterprise), you can assign DM conversations, leave team notes on them and see who else has them open.
"Assign to me" and team notes work solo too, for example as a to-do list. It gets really good with teammates: only then can you assign to others, @mention people and see presence avatars.
